ABOUT ME

I am a software engineer. I was lucky enough to have Elixir be my very first backend language, and it has been my primary professional language for the last 8 years. This practical experience includes many attendant technologies: Phoenix, Ecto, PostgreSQL, Ash Framework, and others. Not a uniglot, I do my best to stay practiced with C++, Rust, and Python. I am currently building competency in Nx: implementing deep learning within the Elixir ecosystem.

My career started in law. I actively practiced from 2006 until 2014, when I decided to change careers. Thinking to practice patent law, I studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Utah, where I obtained a B.S. in that field. My love for software rekindled during that time, and I adjusted my career plan.

Since switching careers, most of my positions have involved architecting and implementing new or stand-alone systems. I enjoy that challenge as it affords a field of problems ripe for the dopamine-inducing solve.

Above all, I am a husband and father to my favorite people on Earth.
